Trip to Nevada

My neck is getting better, and I finally took the time to upload my photos onto photobucket.  It still doesn't work as fast as it should, but it did work. Some time ago, I mentioned a surprise trip we were about to make.  We sold our trailer (because we hadn't used it in 4 years!) and the older man that bought it, paid us extra to tow it to his land in Nevada!  We did it!  It was a 7 hour drive one way.  We only stopped for gas, and had lots of food in the van.  My mom went, too.  We had a great time singing to oldies songs and enjoying the scenery of the California High Desert along Hwy 395.  We arrived in Goldfield, NV, got the trailer set up, then drove to the small silver mining town of Tonapah, NV.  We ate dinner and got a motel room. The next morning, we were able to go to the silver museum.  The mine is not working, but you can tour it, we didn't have time.  Then we drove west through the mountains, back into CA, and to the Ancient Bristlcone Pine Forest.  I'll write more about them next time.  For now, Hhere are lots of pics from our first segment of the trip, with captions, coming above each pic. Wild Parrots

We have a flock of wild parrots in our neighborhood!  We have seen them twice in the last couple of weeks, in the tree across the street.  This is the closest we could get with our zoom, without scaring them off:

Pain in the Neck

Really.  My neck has been bothering me, then I worked in the nursery at church and it got way worse.  Muscle spasms, even.  I went to the chiro and I'm getting better.  Walking around with a neck brace is kind of embarassing.  Kids stare.  I don't like the attention.  Unless it's from people I know, of course :)  It seems it is an old injury.  In 8th grade I hurt my neck while doing gymnastics in PE.  I told the dr.  He thought I was "in gymnastics".  I said, "no, it was forced"!  That sounds so strong, but unless you have a note, you really do have to do what they say.  I think I hurt it while tumbling.  I went to the hospital and had xrays.  They were looking for a fracture.  Negative.  I don't remember much else.  It sure did hurt.  Muscle spasms.  My head and shoulder meeting.  It went away, though I've always had a sensitive neck since then.  And the occasional, like once a year, muscle spasm.  My dr. says it was never fixed!  There is a little arthritis in my neck, but nowhere else! Which I am so glad about.  I can't remember the other words he used to describe my injury, but he is very hopeful that we can fix it.  But in the meantime, I'm supposed to stay off the computer, and no reading!  No looking down, slouching.  So I am being naughty right now.  But that is why I haven't posted.  Or at least a very good reason.    I do check my email, but only briefly nowadays.  So I better get off before it all flares up again. 

Next weekend, we plan to go on a very interesting trip.  I will take lots of pics and post about it when we get back.
