I really do want to blog more often! Tiredness is what usually wins! I am in the process of downloading a bunch of our beach camping pics, and it is taking a long time. So I thought I'd post while I waited and hopefully, I'll post those pics soon. So tonight I will post what we are doing in school.

Kitty, 8th grade:

Bible, reading through the Old Testament,

Math: Teaching Textbooks 7 (near the end)

History/Geography: Mystery of History(Creation - Resurrection)

Science: Apologia General Science

Language Arts: Spelling Power; Creative Writing; Easy Grammar

Reading: She reads LOTS of great books, including classics

Math: Teaching Textbooks 7 (beginning)

History: Ancient Rome (from various books)

Science: Apologia Botany, Zoology

LA: Spelling Power, Handwriting, Easy Grammar

Math: Teaching Textbooks 5

History: Ancient Rome

Science: Apologia Botany, Zoology

Puppy, 2nd gr:

Bible (with family)

Math: Saxon 1 (only because Teaching Textbooks doesn't go that low yet)

Science: Apologia Botany, Zoology

Phonics: Alpha Phonics (He's doing great!)

Handwriting; Still tracing large letters, doing various fine motor skill practice

Handwriting: Handwriting Without Tears (already finished her 1st grade book, "I need the next one!")

Bible: Reading Messianic prophecies and their fullfilments, memorizing various scripture

Art: I am using the Simply Charlotte Mason website as a guide. Right now we are studying James John Audubon. I love his bird paintings!

Music: Same website as above, studying Johan Sebastian Bach

Health: Cleanliness, Hygiene (a good resource are our Keepers of the Faith handbooks)

PE: In the backyard, doing calisthenics and learning various skills.

Reading: Lots of great books, the last book, Snow Treasures. Current book, Titus Rules by Dick King-Smith.

Summer Fun

We spent a lot of time in various forms of water this summer. Here are some pictures:

At the lake. Some friends invited us to the lake on their boat. The kids had a blast being towed behind the boat on tubes!

Back to school!

We started school on Aug. 11. Though we kept our afternoons free for things like friends and swimming. Afterall, it is still in the 90's, so summer is still here. It just makes life a little busier. I have a fun post of our summer adventures coming up, but I have been busy with planning the school year, and watching the olympics, and going here and there to keep cool. And today we are going camping at the beach where it will be in 60's! Not exactly swimming weather, but it will be so nice to get out of the heat for a few days. We will come back on Sunday, and hit the books full force on Monday. The Olympics will be over, so I will have more time to read the great books I am trying to finish, and post pictures on my blog.

Life is full. :)
